Maintenance Reporting Workflow
Overview
Accurate and timely maintenance reporting is essential for tracking aircraft status, identifying recurring issues, and ensuring ongoing airworthiness compliance. CAMOs play a critical role in collecting, recording, and analyzing maintenance data.
Types of Reports
- Defect Reports (Tech Log): Recorded by flight or maintenance crew
- Maintenance Work Orders: Issued for scheduled/unscheduled tasks
- Deferred Defects: MEL/CDL items awaiting rectification
- Reliability Reports: For trend monitoring and performance analysis
Daily Workflow
- Receive Reports: From line/base maintenance or crew
- Review Content: Ensure all fields, signatures, and CRS are present
- Log into Tracking System: e.g., AMOS, OASES, or equivalent
- Assign Status: Open / Closed / Deferred (with MEL category)
- Flag Safety Issues: Escalate repetitive or critical items
Sample Defect Entry
Defect ID | Description | Status | Deferred Category | Action |
---|---|---|---|---|
DFT-2451 | Brake wear indicator exceeded | Deferred | C | Scheduled for next A-check |
DFT-2452 | Cabin light inop row 12 | Closed | N/A | Rectified 25-Mar-2025 |
DFT-2453 | Navigation display flickering | Open | N/A | Pending troubleshooting |
CAMO Role in Reporting
- Track all reports centrally
- Coordinate rectification timelines with Maintenance
- Ensure MEL deferrals are within allowable limits
- Identify trends for reliability improvement
- Support audits with full defect history
🔧 Every defect report is an opportunity to enhance safety and operational performance.
